TASK 1: First World problems
Australia is classified as a first world country where as countries such as India are classified as third world countries. Sometimes in Australia, people become overwhelmed by what has been coined ‘First World Problems'. This task will enable you to compare and contrast ‘first world’ problems with ‘third world’.
This task will take you 90 - 120 minutes
1. View the clips below and create a two-column table with the following headings: FIRST WORLD ISSUES / THIRD WORLD ISSUES. Use the information from the clips to complete the table.
TIP: You can create your table electronically using Word or use an app such as ‘Tools For Students’ or create a paper copy.
2. Write a letter / email to the boy in the first clip letting him know how you feel about his thinking regarding the problems in his life. Make sure you make him aware of some of the problems that exist in third world countries.
