Task 2: Kids At Work!
As you get older you might start thinking about what career path you would like to take after you finish your education.
You may even consider getting a part time job to earn some extra money while you are still at school or you may already have a part time job. The situation is very different in some developing countries where many children are working in full time jobs from as young as 5 years old. This task will take about 60 to 90 minutes 1. Read the articles and watch the clips about children in work. http://www.worldvision.com.au/issues/Human_Trafficking___Slavery/What_exactly_is_child_labour_.aspx http://pbskids.org/itsmylife/money/making/article2.html http://www.fairwork.gov.au/find-help-for/young-workers-and-students http://www.abc.net.au/btn/story/s3250492.htm http://www.un.org/en/events/childlabourday/background.shtml 2. Create 2 tables showing the advantages and disadvantages of children having jobs. One should be for children in the developing world and one for children living in developed countries like Australia. You can add your own ideas as well as the information from the articles. 3. Write a statement that discusses what is similar and different about children working in either developed or developing countries. 4. Create a checklist to show what rules or laws there are to protect the rights of children working in New South Wales. OUTCOMES: SSS3.7, CUS3.4 |
